Welcome to Ritual support. Below you'll find answers to commonly asked questions about the app. If you need further assistance, reach out to us using the contact information at the bottom of this page.
How do I create an account?
Download Ritual from the App Store or Google Play, open the app, and sign up with your phone number. You'll receive a verification code to confirm your account. Once verified, you can set up your display name and profile photo.
How do I delete my account?
Go to your Profile tab, tap "Edit Profile", and scroll to the bottom to find the delete account option. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, group memberships, RSVPs, messages, and uploaded media. This action cannot be undone.
Can I change my display name or username?
Yes. Go to your Profile tab and tap "Edit Profile" to update your display name, username, or profile photo at any time.
What is a group?
A group is a circle of friends you coordinate plans with. Each group has a name, emoji, color, and a private invite code. All plans are created within a group and are visible to its members.
How do I create a group?
From the Groups tab, tap the "+" button. Give your group a name, pick an emoji and color, and you're set. A unique 6-digit invite code is automatically generated so you can invite friends.
How do I invite someone to my group?
Open your group and tap the invite button to share the 6-digit invite code or a direct link. You can also invite specific users from within the group settings. Invited members will receive a notification and can accept or decline.
How do I join a group?
If someone shares a group invite link, tap it to preview the group and join. You can also enter a 6-digit invite code manually from the Groups tab. Joining via code is instant — no approval needed.
Can I leave a group?
Yes. Open the group, go to its settings, and tap "Leave Group". If you are the group owner, you'll need to transfer ownership before leaving.
What is a plan?
A plan is an outing or event you're coordinating with your group. Plans contain one or more stops (venues or activities) with times, locations, and details. Group members RSVP to individual stops.
How do I create a plan?
From the home page, tap to add a new event. You can also share a link from a platform like Partiful directly into Ritual to import event details. Once created, add stops with venue names, times, and locations. Your group members will be notified and can RSVP to the stops they want to attend.
How do RSVPs work?
Each plan has one or more stops. You RSVP to individual stops rather than the plan as a whole. This lets your group know exactly which parts of the outing you'll be at.
What happens to past plans?
Plans you attended are automatically moved to your Archive after they end. You can revisit them from the Archive tab to view photos, messages, and details from the outing.
What is the activity feed?
Each plan has its own activity feed where group members can chat, share updates, and see system events like new stops added or RSVPs received. It's the central place for plan coordination.
Can I delete a message?
Yes. Long-press on a message you sent and select "Delete". Deleted messages are removed from the feed for all members.
How do I report a message?
Long-press on any message and select "Report". Each message can only be reported once per user.
What notifications will I receive?
Ritual sends notifications for new plans, RSVP updates, new stops added, group invites, new group members, chat messages, and uploaded media. You can customize which notifications you receive in your profile settings.
How do I turn off notifications?
Go to your Profile tab and tap "Notification Preferences" to toggle individual notification types on or off. You can also disable all Ritual notifications from your device's system settings.
Who can see my information?
Your display name and profile photo are visible to other Ritual members. Your phone number is used for authentication only and is not displayed to other users. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Does Ritual share my data with third parties?
No. We do not sell your personal information. Data is shared only with service providers necessary to operate the app (hosting, authentication, and push notifications). See our Privacy Policy for more.
Does Ritual track my location?
Only if you grant location permission. Location is used to show nearby venues and your position on plan maps. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
The app is crashing or not loading.
Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, make sure you're running the latest version from the App Store or Google Play. If the problem continues, contact us at the email below with a description of the issue and your device model.
I'm not receiving push notifications.
Check that notifications are enabled for Ritual in your device's system settings. Also verify your preferences within the app under Profile > Notification Preferences. If notifications are enabled but not arriving, try logging out and back in.
My invite code isn't working.
Invite codes are 6 digits and case-insensitive. Make sure you're entering the code exactly as shared. If it still doesn't work, the group owner may have regenerated the code — ask them for the latest one.
